Building the Gallatin: Local developer’s Bozeman roots go deep
When he first started buying and selling land for development, Gene Cook was a bit of a one-man show.
He got his hands dirty at every level, buying and dividing the land, working with real estate agents, selling lots and recruiting tenants. Of course, that was the early ‘70s, and everything about it was much easier and faster, Cook said.
Today, Gene Cook Real Estate has more than 40 years of history in and around Bozeman, with more than 20 residential subdivisions built, many commercial properties built and maintained and more projects in the works.
Despite Cook’s humble attitude toward his own success, one longtime friend and business partner, Frank Humberger, put it more bluntly.
